WHT Setup Steps
In QuickEasy BOS, the Withholding Tax (WHT) features were created to comply with WHT legislation in Thailand and other countries.
It provides for WHT deducted from both customer and supplier invoices. It also provides a reconciliation to help you pay over the correct amounts to the relevant tax authorities.
For more information on WHT in Thailand see the schedule from the Thailand Revenue Department. QuickEasy BOS provides the system to calculate WHT but does not tell you what percentage to deduct because we do not know upfront what services you or your suppliers offer.
WHT is activated by following all the steps outlined below.

Setup Steps
- Create WHT accounts and defaults in the Chart of Accounts.
- Add a WHT account to all the applicable Customer records.
- Add a WHT account to all the applicable Supplier records.
- Add WHT settings to all the applicable Transaction Types.
- Setup the WHT Reconciliation as outlined in the Tax Reconciliation Setup Tutorials.
Step 1 How to Create WHT Accounts
If you have suppliers that fall within different categories of WHT, you could create a WHT account under Current Liabilities for each category (e.g. WHT – Foreign Companies, WHT – Local Companies).
- Navigate to the Chart of Accounts (e.g. Main Menu > Setup > Accounting > Accounts (tab)).
- Click the + to display all the accounts.
- Click the arrow next to Statement of Profit/Loss to collapse it.
- On the Statement of Financial Position:
- Right click Current Assets and click Add Account.
- Add an account as follows:
- Account = Taxes Withheld by Customers (or similar).
- Code = Enter a code if you use them in keeping with the pattern you use.
- Lookup = Taxes Withheld by Customers (or similar).
- Default = WHT Control.
- Right click Current Liabilities and click Add Account.
- Add an account as follows:
- Account = Taxes Withheld from Suppliers (or similar).
- Code = Enter a code if you use them in keeping with the pattern you use.
- Lookup = Taxes Withheld from Suppliers (or similar).
- Default = WHT Control.
- Click Save (button).
- Click Actions (button) > Refresh Lookups.
Step 2 How to Add a WHT Account to Customer Records
- Navigate to Customers (e.g. Main Menu > Setup > Customers).
- Double click a customer entry to edit the record.
- Click Edit (button).
- Click Attributes (tab).
- Click Currency and Tax.
- If the entry is not there, add it as follows:
- Click Group (button).
- Click Currency and Tax on the dropdown list.
- If the entry is not there, add it as follows:
- Click the arrow in the Value column next to Withholding Tax (WHT) – Account.
- Select Taxes Withheld by Customers from the dropdown list.
- Click Save (button).
- Click the arrow next to Edit Customer to return to the list of customers.
- Repeat Steps 2 to 9 until to allocate an account to all the applicable customer accounts.
Step 3 How to Add a WHT Account to Supplier Records
- Navigate to Customers (e.g. Main Menu > Setup > Suppliers).
- Double click a supplier entry to edit the record.
- Click Edit (button).
- Click Attributes (tab).
- Click Currency and Tax.
- If the entry is not there, add it as follows:
- Click Group (button).
- Click Currency and Tax on the dropdown list.
- If the entry is not there, add it as follows:
- Click the arrow in the Value column next to Withholding Tax (WHT) – Account.
- Select Taxes Withheld from Suppliers from the dropdown list.
- Click Save (button).
- Click the arrow next to Edit Supplier to return to the list of suppliers.
- Repeat Steps 2 to 9 to allocate an account to all the applicable supplier accounts.
Step 4 How to Activate WHT for Transaction Types
WHT should only be activated for Transaction Types that involve customers or suppliers so that there is a record of which customer deducted the tax, and from which supplier the tax was deducted.
- Navigate to Transaction Types (e.g. Main Menu > Setup > Transaction Types).
- Double click a Transaction Type you want to activate WHT for. Commonly used Transaction Types are:
- Customer Invoices
- Customer Credit Notes
- Customer Receipts
- Supplier Invoices
- Supplier Debit Notes
- Supplier Payments
- Click Add/Edit (button) on the top row unless it is greyed out.
- Click Settings (tab) if it is not open in front of you.
- Click Settings (button) to open the settings popup:
- Type WHT in the search block.
- Click this setting: Accounting > Enable Withholding Tax (WHT).
- Click Add/Update (button).
- Confirm the update.
- Close the popup.
- Click the arrow in the Value column next to the setting: Accounting > Enable Withholding Tax (WHT).
- Select Invoice for Customer or Supplier Invoices.
- Select Payment for Customer Receipts or Supplier Payments.
- Click Save (button).
- Close the popup and repeat Steps 2 to 7 for all the other applicable Transaction Types.
